ENTROTOPIA

ENTROTOPIA is an exhibition exchange project between HTS, Helsinki Artists’ Association (Finland) and Publikum.sk (Slovakia). This website is a OPEN platform for artists, curators and the PUBLIC to discuss and share ideas with each others. Project is curated by Ville Laaksonen and Dominika Chrzanová.


Theme ENTROTOPIA is a multi-national approach to discuss the possibilities of artists UTOPIA as a response to DYSTOPIAn state of world. ENTROPY is a force that seems to divide everything, but can it also be an solution that connects us in a new order?

Kata Mach

Kata Mach: Created with anarchy


Utopia; it seemed to be a sort of dis-topia to her. Politically anarchistic works by Kata Mach present a form of dystopia through social fire. Fear is a suffocating amount of oppression by the majority and how history is written by the winners. In Entrotopia curator Ville Laaksonen has done his best to respect her œuvre by creating a installation which honours the legacy of her works. (Ville Laaksonen)
Bio: In 2005 – 2009 Mach attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, where she earned her master degree at the Department of Painting and other Media under prof. Daniel Fisher. Kata Mach made videos of her own performances using her body as an instrument. She also used to work with embroidery and installations. Kata Mach died in the winter of 2018 under tragic circumstances, during the curatorial process of the exhibition.

Utopia; vaikutti olevan eräänlainen dis-topia hänelle. Kata Machin poliittisesti anarkistiset teokset esittävät omalaatuisen dystooppisen kuvan ajastamme ja maailmastamme sosiaalisen palon lävitse. Pelko on enemmistön sortoa marginaaleja kohtaan ja osoitus siitä, kuinka voittajat kirjoittavat historian. Entrotopiassa kuraattori Ville Laaksonen on toteuttaa parhaansa mukaan Kata Machin muistoa, kunnioittaen hänen taiteellista toimintaansa luomalla installaation, joka kunnioittaa hänen teostensa perintöä. Bio: Vuosina 2005 - 2009 Mach osallistui Bratislavan Kuvataideakatemiaan, missä hän suoritti maisterin tutkinnon maalauksen ja median laitoksella prof. Daniel Fisherin johdolla. Kata Mach teki videoita omista esityksistään käyttämällä, joissa hän käytti usein kehoaan instrumenttina. Hän työskenteli myös kirjonnan ja installaatioiden parissa. Kata Mach kuoli traagisesti talvella 2018 Entrotopia näyttelyn kuratointiprosessin keskellä.
